About

Lawrence Angelo “Lance” B. Katigbak is an eighteen year old college freshman at the University of the Philippines in Diliman where he is majoring in Broadcast Communications. His dream is to be able to create films with social impact that allow people to question certain societal norms and rethink the current trends and practices that dominate society today. He wants to create films that aren’t successful just because of their graphic content but rather because of their plot-driven content. For him, films should be a combination of a well-thought of storyline with a unique twist and image-driven cinematography.

Lance graduated high school from PAREF-Southridge School in Alabang. There, he was a consistent first honor student and graduated valedictorian of his batch. In his senior year, he was the Editor-in-Chief of The Ridge, the school’s official organ, Co-Captain of The Podium, the debate varsity, and Treasurer of the Southridge Servers’ Society, the altar server organization. He was also awarded #1 of the Ten Most Outstanding Students of Muntinlupa City.

His only formal film training was a private summer workshop from Inspire Video Productions in the summer of 2010. The workshop concluded with the creation of “Fine Dining” which he submitted to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts as his portfolio piece. He was accepted for admission in the Fall of 2011. Aside from NYU, Lance was also accepted into the University of California at Berkeley, the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University (as a Merit Scholar), and De La Salle University (as a Star Scholar).

Aside from his interests in film and photography, Lance is also a writer, debater, Youth for Christ leader, fountain pen collector, pro-life advocate, and techie.

BTW, Aldy was my former boss at Bank of PI, that’s how I came to know about your blog but I’ve been following you on Twitter. May I be permitted to blog about your film? I am really proud on what you have achieved.

Lance, why didn’t you go to Tisch? Just wondering?

    • Hi Joan! Our family wasn’t able to afford it and I wasn’t able to find any sources of financial assistance, both local and international. It was really heartbreaking for me not to be able to go, but I’m hoping that I still get the chance to do so in the future. 🙂
